The Kirkpatrick began as a referral and became a project defined by trust and intentional design. My client sought an ellipse shaped table with highly figured, eye-catching maple, and the process guided every decision. After selecting slabs at the mill, the design evolved from epoxy to a glass inlay, creating a way to reveal the live edges and burly figure of the wood—an approach new to the project. A custom-fabricated steel base was designed in house and carefully refined to maintain a steady flow that complements the curvature of the top while suspending it seamlessly. The result balances an elegant, bold form with technical complexity, hand delivered and staged while the client was away—a piece shaped entirely by collaboration and vision.
